In the late 70's, New Wave was becoming the punch line to every ass-licking A&R person and at any major label. Trying to cash in on New wave was the acceptable term to use for people who were too afraid to say they listened to punk or avant-garde music. So it was only a matter of time till No Wave lashed out it's ugly head from the lower east side of New York. At which time a teenage Lydia Lunch was starting to make noise that fit the standard that would become No Wave.

Lydia Lunch is an incredible provocateur/artist/superhero. She is one of the ever so important key elements to the No Wave movement in the late 70's, and a member of several projects throughout the years. This one being Teenage Jesus & The Jerks, the name alone says it all! And in the late 70's with all that shit rock music and progressive drama and gongs onstage, music was in a sad state commercially. Not unlike it is today. Hence, Lydia and various other individuals imploded into a scene that Brian Eno would fundamentally call No Wave and put out the "No New York" compilation album. Which pretty much said it all. Total freedom and militant anti-talent set the tone for the no-wave scene. Incredibly important and brought to light such individuals as James Chance and the Contortions, as well as D.N.A., Mars and Teenage Jesus & The Jerks. This compilation would become an instant classic and essentially became the Sgt. Pepper's of the scene.

This is Teenage Jesus & The Jerks only album.
