Canadian uber proto-black prog nuclear thrash trashmetal. Apocalyptic kingpins Voivod were definitely in league with Satan as well as in a league of their own. Creating atmosphere, violence, science fiction, violence, speed and a fuck lot of skillfully written metal that any other metal band would've played with the upmost of proficiency had they written it. Voivod on the other hand just were learning to play and came off crude and other wordly, especially with the artwork of Away, the band's drummer, who did all the band's artwork. Yet another factor in separating them from the pack.
Truly original, truly morose and morbidly trend-killing. Voivod still play to this day, unfortunately their guitarist Piggy died sometime ago. Be sure to pick up all the band's early works and beyond for those who are friends with the greys.
